We raised $10,845.84 in the months of November and December for NewsMatch!!
True, I didn’t reach the match cap of $12,500, but this is the most Delaware Currents has raised in this annual project, so I’m celebrating!
Thank you all for your generosity. Truth be told, we actually raised MORE than $12,500 but there are two limits — donations have to come from individuals and each person can only give $1,000. Some people, bless them, did give more!
I’ll be busy the next week or so getting all the details organized to submit to NewsMatch. It’s a headache but I just keep remembering your generosity and feel a smile on my face.
Here are some of the stories that we’ve been working on:
New York emerges from drought conditions while dry conditions persist in other watershed states
Delaware divers brave the cold for a cause
More than $17M in National Fish and Wildlife Foundation funding to benefit Delaware River watershed projects
Aging equipment plagues the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area
Delaware River watershed drought: Good for the birds, the trout – not so much
Skinners Falls Bridge is “actively failing” and needs to be demolished, potentially with explosives, officials say
New DRBC head promises a steady hand on the tiller
One more thing: These are likely to be unsettled times ahead and I’d like to recommend a website: Reasons to be cheerful.
Its latest story, “The Love in the Air is Thicker than the Smoke,” is a remarkable telling of a different story behind the scenes of those dreadful fires in Los Angeles.
Read it and rediscover that there is hope for us humans.
Happy New Year!!
